Hello Lovelies!!
Welcome to my blog this wonderful Sunday, I hope your week have been amazing and wonderful. To close this week, I have Candace Knoebel coming by, let's see what we talked about:

Sabina: Hi Candace, and welcome to my cozy and comfy blog. Sit down and relax.

Candace: Thank you for having me!

There might some who don’t know you. Mind telling us a little about yourself?

- I’m a stay-at-home mom who has a never-ending pile of laundry to fold and two children who keep me on my toes. I love to sing, dance, laugh, watch movies, jog...the norm. I’m very shy if I don’t know you, and way too outgoing if I do. I’m like the epitome of contradiction, even down to my socks. :)

Hi Guys!!
I have an amazing treat for you today!! I have a mini interview with the lovely Faith Marlow, and I got a chance to ask her a little about her book; Being Mrs. Dracula, and her publisher; Crushing Hearts Black Butterfly (which is my FAVORITE publisher btw).
Alright, let me tell you a little about the book first:

When Valeria’s hand was given in marriage to the handsome and powerful Count Vlad Dracula, she dreamed of happiness but instead her life was filled with longing for her absent husband, their country ravaged by war. When Vlad at last returned from the battlefield he was a changed man, an alluring and dangerous creature with a thirst for her blood…and for more wives.

For over one hundred years, tales of Count Dracula have haunted and seduced the imagination of readers worldwide. Now experience the story of Dracula from a new perspective, as told by the three women who knew him best. Discover their stories, their secrets, and find out what it would be to love and be loved by history’s most powerful vampire in Being Mrs. Dracula.

In a marriage that spans centuries, one man shared between three women, love may be eternal but happiness is not guaranteed.

Author Take Over: C. Warner-Thompson, Interview

Hi and welcome to my new place, Clemy! Hope you enjoy the new surroundings. Sit down, I have coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and some homemade Christmas cookies.

You recently released you second book in your latest fantasy series; The Mirage. Was it different to write compared to The Star?

It was. It was much, much harder to keep my thoughts and ideas in a straight line. I kept veering off with different ideas and sometimes I lost the pull of the story slightly, but the ending does the book justice… I think…

Author Take Over: Alyssa Cooper - interview

Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa Cooper, and I'm today's guest blogger here on Sabina's Adventures in reading. I'm just a weird Canadian girl with a life-long passion for the written word and a fretful lack of time. I'm the author of Salvation, a piece of literary fiction wrapped in a vampire story, and Benjamin, a story of love, loss, and psychedelic drugs due to be released next month.

These days, you can find my poetry and prose all over the place. Check out my website for a full list of published works!

I figured the best way to talk about myself too much without feeling like I was talking about myself too much was to let you guys ask the questions. This author interview was compiled by my friends, fans, and wordweaving colleagues - thanks so much to all of them!

"What inspires you the most when writing?" Kirstie Herrington

I think the one thing that has always inspired me the most is humanity; the human experience, the human condition, the polarities between our deepest emotions. There is something so compelling about pure humanity - it is what gives a story meaning. Romances, tragedies, and even horror, they're all about humanity. Even in a story like Watership Down, where rabbits are the key players and humans appear only as shadows in the background, it is still the rabbits' humanity that draws us into their tale. We wouldn't empathize with those rabbits if they were simply rabbits. We love them because they act like humans. Because they're people, with families and feelings and lives. And that's what inspires me the most.

It's human feelings that inspire me to write, human experiences, but not just my own. It's almost as if my own pain is too close to be seen quite clearly. It's so much more beautiful to observe someone else's pain from across the room, some pain that I can see but can't quite understand, and to appropriate it. To distill some other life in the labyrinthian corridors of my own mind, and find a new world waiting on the other side.

Blog Tour: Mate of the Alpha by Marie Manson - review and interview + GIVEAWAY

Hi guys!!
Today I'm a part of the Mate of the Alpha Tour, and I have both a review of this wonderful short story and an interview with Marie Manson, the author. Hope you'll enjoy!! Now, let's start with the interview, so you can learn a little more about Marie.

Hi and welcome to my blog, Marie. please make yourself at home and grab a drink from one of my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake. To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

Hello! My name is Marie Mason and I write shifter romances. Whew, glad that confession is out of the way. I’m working feverishly to finish Blind Date with a Bear which I hope to have out by mid-November. The characters are being a little difficult; they don’t want the story to end either. In December I hope to have Christmas Wolf, a very short shifter romance up for the holiday.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Chocolate and men. And ice cream. Preferably chocolate ice cream on a man.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

I secretly want to try a ménage-a-trois – I mean really what woman wouldn’t?

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

The mountains. There’s nothing more beautiful than driving along a stretch of interstate on a clear blue autumn day.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

Open my computer and stare at the blank screen. I also go back and re-read books from my keeper shelf – yes, I have shelves filled with paperback books even in this electronic age.

What is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had?
Standing in a check-out line at the grocery store. I know the plot has been done before, but what if that handsome stranger just grabbed you and kissed you?

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?

They need to be taught. The women are usually not as self-confident as most. They need someone to show them they are loveable. Yes, some readers might disagree with not having a strong, confident heroine, but really, what person is that secure in themselves that they think they are truly loveable? To me, that person is even stronger when they allow themselves to open up to another person than the individual who has no doubts.

The heroes in my stories just don’t believe in love. They believe in sex and mating, but not the pesky emotions. To them, mating is loving. There’s a fine line between being domineering and being dominant. Most men have difficulty learning that lesson. But don’t worry, my heroines always make sure they learn the difference.

What can readers expect next from you?

Blind Date with a Bear is scheduled for release in mid-November and Christmas Wolf in December. And, I’m just saying, maybe you’ll see a character or two (hint, hint) from Blind Date sometime in 2014.

Thank you for coming!

Blurb: Ethan Scott was reluctant to claim his mate, Lily Reynolds. He was afraid his carnal needs would be too much for the curvy innocent. His wolf was of another mind, pushing the man relentlessly to mate. But Ethan knew once he had the brown-haired beauty there would no turning back. He’d claim her, mate her, and bred her. When she’s attacked by a group of rouge wolves, Ethan fears he has left his claiming too late and will lose his mate forever. When he comes to her rescue, he discovers the spirited Lily is more than ready to be the mate of an alpha.

Lily Reynolds has been crushing on her boss since she started work at Wolfe Enterprises six months ago. She knew the chances of attracting the wolf into a long-term relationship were slim to none – slim being a state she hadn’t achieved since childhood. She loved her curves and knew there was someone out there who would love every soft, luscious inch of her voluptuous body. Heartbroken, she knew Ethan Scott wasn’t that man despite the hot and cold signals the wolf shifter had been given her for months.

My Thoughts: Mate of the Alpha was a short, sweet and steamy read, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.  The slowly building tension between Ethan and Lily are amazing, it has you sitting on the edge, waiting for the dam to burst. When it does… oh boy.  It turns from steamy to hot.

Mate of the Alpha is a short read, but in the few pages, I thought Marie did a wonderful job, and I truly enjoyed every page. In the short time it took me to read, I was frustrated, hopeful, fearful, happy and then blushing. I’m looking forward to reading a full length novella from Marie. I’m curious to see how well she will do. Based on this short story, I'll bet it will be great.
About the Author:
Marie Mason loves to write romances about shifters and the curvy girls who love them. Her stories focus on the romance element in any genre – erotica, paranormal, contemporary. There is always an happy-ever-after in a Marie Mason romance.

A Parent's Playbook for Learning: Author Interview

Today I'm jumping a bit out of my own realm, and trying on something different. I read a non-fiction book. There. (nods solemnly) See? I survived! ROFL.
No seriously though. I read Jen Lilienstein's book; A Parent's Playbook for Learning, and although it's not my "normal" reading material, it was fun to see if I could apply this to myself and my son, who just started school in August this year. I was fortunate enough to be able to ask Jen some questions, so settle in, and let's see how it went:

Sabina: Hi Jen, and thank you so much for taking the time to answer a few questions.

S: First, would you please tell my readers a little about yourself?

By morning and evening, I am a parent. By day, I am a marketing consultant. By night, I devour education and personality type research. I don’t sleep much, but I really enjoy all the facets I’ve brought into my life. I keep hoping science will figure out a way to keep 365 days in the year, but squeeze out 30 hours a day!

S: Why did you write A Parent’s Playbook for learning?
I really wanted to make sure my kids LOVED learning. For me, education isn’t so much about what you can stuff in, but how you inspire kids to learn and connect the dots on their own. I wasn’t doing a very good job of it on my own even though I’d done extremely well in school  and am definitely modeling life-long learning. Once I started employing personality type techniques, things started to click for my kids. I think inspiring a lifelong love of learning in your kids is one of your most important tasks on a parenting to-do list. With 20-30 kids in a classroom during the school day, teachers need backup.

S: Reading your book, I found it hard to put both my son (who just started school this year), but even myself into the different “boxes”. Finding out if we were introverts or extraverts were fairly easy, but finding out if we were a Judger or perceiver, turned out to be a bit more difficult, even harder to find out what kind of judger/perceiver we were.  Do you experience this often? And what do you recommend?

It’s important to remember that it’s more of a continuum than a box. To which side do you lean when you’re NOT under stress? (Many people find they flip sides or the pendulum swings when under stress.) If you enjoy crossing things off a to-do list and prefer more order and schedule in your life, you are probably a judger.  If you tend to leave things until the last minute because that’s when you do your best work and prefer to stay in the “what if…” stage as long as humanly possible, you are probably a perceiver.

S: What do you think is the biggest challenge for a parent who is an introvert/extravert, when the child is the opposite?
Definitely how to tackle homework. Introverts need to do homework first and then talk through their thinking. Extraverts need the opposite—they need to talk through the assignment first and then get down to business.

S: What kind of Learner are you?
Introverted feeler.

S: What are you working on right now? (Or your next project?)
My next project is to take the nearly 40,000 profiles that have been completed on Kidzmet.com and see what kinds of parallels can be drawn between the different preferences. Which ones work in tandem more often? How does/should that impact the ways in which we engage and motivate students?

S: Do you have a piece of advice for parents whose kids just started school?
Make sure both you AND their teachers see your kids’ Kidzmet profiles. It’s a free service and can give both teachers and parents a toolbox from which to draw if your child has trouble in the classroom. (And you might not even know your child is having issues until after the first report card!)
Thank you Jen, for answering my questions! If you want to know a little more about Jen, here's her bio:

Jen completed her undergraduate senior thesis on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligence and its effect on self-esteem, attendance rates and love of learning in 1994 and in the years prior to founding Kidzmet, she worked in the education industry in various capacities including brand and product management for JumpStart educational software and in marketing for a non-traditional post-secondary certification. Once she became a parent, she started seeing just how differently her kids learned than she did...and was reminded how critical it is that teachers and parents “get” how each unique student likes to learn in order for kids to become engaged, enthusiastic learners. She also started to realize how many parents didn’t know personality-based techniques and strategies that could help their kids learn how to learn better.

Ms. Lilienstein currently serves on the Editorial Board of the National Afterschool Association, the Publications and Platform Committees of the NAA, the Quality Committee of the CA Afterschool Network, and advocates for Afterschool for All with the Afterschool Alliance. She is also a member of BOOST and ASCD. Ms. Lilienstein is also a weekly contributor on the Total Education Network, which is syndicated on 80+ networks and heard by more than a million people in 180 countries around the world.

At home, Jen is Mom to an extraverted seven year-old daughter--who has already dabbled in music, swimming, gymnastics, ballet, nature, yoga and art--and an introverted four year-old son who loves to do puzzles, build with LEGOs, examine the lives of animals and insects, and admire anything with an engine.
