Hi guys!!
Today I'm a part of the Mate of the Alpha Tour, and I have both a review of this wonderful short story and an interview with Marie Manson, the author. Hope you'll enjoy!! Now, let's start with the interview, so you can learn a little more about Marie.
Hi and welcome to my blog, Marie. please make yourself at home and grab a drink from one of my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake. To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?
Hello! My name is Marie Mason and I write
shifter romances. Whew, glad that confession is out of the way. I’m working
feverishly to finish Blind Date with a
Bear which I hope to have out by mid-November. The characters are being a
little difficult; they don’t want the story to end either. In December I hope
to have Christmas Wolf, a very short
shifter romance up for the holiday.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Chocolate and men. And ice cream. Preferably
chocolate ice cream on a man.
Name one thing readers would be
surprised to know about you.
I secretly want to try a ménage-a-trois –
I mean really what woman wouldn’t?
The mountains. There’s nothing more
beautiful than driving along a stretch of interstate on a clear blue autumn day.
How do you get yourself in the mood to write?
Open my computer and stare at the blank
screen. I also go back and re-read books from my keeper shelf – yes, I have
shelves filled with paperback books even in this electronic age.
What
is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had?
Standing in a check-out line at the grocery
store. I know the plot has been done before, but what if that handsome stranger
just grabbed you and kissed you?
Are
your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?
They need to be taught. The women are
usually not as self-confident as most. They need someone to show them they are
loveable. Yes, some readers might disagree with not having a strong, confident
heroine, but really, what person is that secure in themselves that they think
they are truly loveable? To me, that person is even stronger when they allow
themselves to open up to another person than the individual who has no doubts.
The heroes in my stories just don’t believe
in love. They believe in sex and mating, but not the pesky emotions. To them,
mating is loving. There’s a fine line between being domineering and being
dominant. Most men have difficulty learning that lesson. But don’t worry, my
heroines always make sure they learn the difference.
What
can readers expect next from you?
Blind
Date with a Bear is scheduled for release in mid-November
and Christmas Wolf in December. And, I’m just saying, maybe you’ll see
a character or two (hint, hint) from Blind
Date sometime in 2014.
Thank you for coming!
Blurb: Ethan Scott was reluctant to claim his
mate, Lily Reynolds. He was afraid his carnal needs would be too much for the
curvy innocent. His wolf was of another mind, pushing the man relentlessly to
mate. But Ethan knew once he had the brown-haired beauty there would no turning
back. He’d claim her, mate her, and bred her. When she’s attacked by a group of
rouge wolves, Ethan fears he has left his claiming too late and will lose his
mate forever. When he comes to her rescue, he discovers the spirited Lily is more
than ready to be the mate of an alpha.
Lily Reynolds has been crushing on her boss since she started work at Wolfe Enterprises six months ago. She knew the chances of attracting the wolf into a long-term relationship were slim to none – slim being a state she hadn’t achieved since childhood. She loved her curves and knew there was someone out there who would love every soft, luscious inch of her voluptuous body. Heartbroken, she knew Ethan Scott wasn’t that man despite the hot and cold signals the wolf shifter had been given her for months.

My
Thoughts: Mate of the Alpha was a short, sweet and
steamy read, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The slowly building tension between Ethan and
Lily are amazing, it has you sitting on the edge, waiting for the dam to burst.
When it does… oh boy. It turns from
steamy to hot.
Mate of the Alpha is a short read, but in the
few pages, I thought Marie did a wonderful job, and I truly enjoyed every page.
In the short time it took me to read, I was frustrated, hopeful, fearful, happy
and then blushing. I’m looking forward to reading a full length novella from
Marie. I’m curious to see how well she will do. Based on this short story, I'll bet it will be great.
