ARC Review: Betrayed (Breaking the Darkness #2) by Felicia Starr

Kasha is back straight from where we left her; on her way to escape from Ziona and the compound she controlled. Although… getting out just might be the easy part. Seeing her mother with the Taker changed every plan Graven and Kasha made. Now Kasha’s priority is not only to escape, but to get back and free her mother as well.
But things aren’t as they seem to be; while Graven and Kasha is getting closer and closer to each other, someone close to Graven will change the rules and turn their world upside down.

This is the second full length book in Felicia’s Breaking the Darkness Series, and I enjoyed it even more than the previous ones. (There’s also Marked, Breaking the Darkness #1.5) Every book goes deeper into the story, and there are small hints from the previous books that makes sense now. That’s one of the things I truly love about Felicia and this series; all the little pieces of the puzzle that in the beginning doesn’t really fit together, but the further you get, the more clear parts of the picture becomes. I truly like Felicia’s writing, and I deeply admire her skill to intertwine everything.

There are things in Betrayed that made me cringe, and there were things that made me literally drop my cup of tea in pure surprise. The attraction between Graven and Kasha is growing and it was amazing to see it grow. And just as a side note…. Telepathic communication can be a sweet, sweet things, just like astral projection ;-) Just saying.

There are SO many amazing things I really, really want to talk about with this book, but I am going to hold back, because.. well, you know… spoilers. *smiles* What I can tell you though is that I truly enjoyed Betrayed and I feel lucky to have been able to be a beta reader for Felicia. There were surprises, romance, nervousness, flirting, danger and evilness. Sprinkled with goodness and hope.

Betrayed is truly special, and I can’t wait to read more. I want to know what happens next, I was a bit put out by how it ended. Although… Kasha truly did shine in the end. She did something that I wanted to stand up and applause her for. But you’ll see when you read it.

Kasha Alexander has been through a great deal since the death of her Gram, kidnapped, and abused, she has fought her way out of captivity with the help of the one man who just might be her saving grace, Graven.
Graven has been searching for Kasha for a millennia and now that he’s found her, he’s not about to let her go. He will protect her in any form, no matter what the cost…
Little does he know how high that cost will be….
