Author Take Over: Mariana Thorn, author of the Fur, Fang & Fairies Series

Hello ALL. Sabina is indisposed or in my dungeon which ever you choose to believe. This means that I'm in charge! Oh wait you don't know me? Let's fix that. My name is Mariana Thorn. I'm an Urban Fantasy author.  I live in Washington State and um yeah that's all boring, let's get onto the good stuff. If you want to know about me feel free to hunt me down and ask. Warning: I'm crazy.

Let me tell you about my Fur, Fangs, and Fairies series while I'm holding you hostage. The first full length novel (Seizing Darkness) was just re-released by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing. The first short story you will find in the Rise of the Goddess Anthology. On to my vision of the series lol.

Fur, Fangs and Fairies takes place in the here and now. All mythological creatures you can imagine exist and the humans now know about them.  The government in turn created a subsection of the department of justice called the Paranormal Investigation Bureau, also known as the PIB. All the books in this series take place in this setting. However, each book is centered around a different character and their story. My plan is after the first two to have standalones and mini-series within the series. This will enable a reader to pick up most any book in the series and start there. The next book, Seizing Shadows which completes Seizing Darkness's story comes out in November. Keep an eye out for it. Kalypso aka Kali is the main character and one of my favorites.

I do have another series starting coming out on July 12th. It's a short story mystery spoof series. It stars Skylar Wolfe Private Investigator. It's full of snark, laughs, and a dead body. I would love for you to read that too.

Uh oh, Sabina has escaped. I better run before she catches me. It's been fun. Love you all. Come hunt me down just don't tell Sabina until she gets over the uh.... Yeah Bye!!!

If you look in the local Starbuck’s or Barnes and Noble you might just find Mariana Thorn. She can usually be found with headphones in and deep into the worlds she has created. There is this thing about her pens if you touch them you might receive a smack to the hand and the well-known glare of destruction.
As a child all her stories involved horses, horses and more horses. There might have been a slight obsession. Writing became more serious in her early twenties but she never dreamed of publishing until much later. Mariana participates yearly in the international event called NANOWRIMO. She has even been known as a Municipal Liaison for that crazy event. There is nothing like the feeling of encouraging other writers, she would say.
Outside of writing one of her favorite places to sit and read are the sunny beaches of Florida. At home in Washington State her favorite activity is riding horses up on the mountain trails. She has an awesome group of family and friends that keep her in coffee and encouragement. Then there is her best buddy Tony, her little dog. She suspects he will try and take over the world someday.

With her past distant and forgotten Natalya has built herself a nice life. She has a job she finds rewarding as a special agent with the Paranormal Investigation Bureau. Her partner, Dante, isn’t too bad for a bloodsucking vampire. Val, her boss, is like a father to her. Her favorite part is that she lives near the Cascade Mountains. Whenever she needs a little vacation, she can shift into a tiger and go running in the woods. Life is good.

That is until recently. Agents are turning up dead and she can’t pin down what is going on. Little does she know that her past is about to come back and bite her in the tail. With no memories before the last year she is a little behind the curve in finding out what is going on. The investigation turns dangerous as the attack turn personal. Lives are on the line, including her own. Will Natalya find out what is going on before it’s too late?

The Goddess: a female deity who represents strength, love, dignity, sexuality, motherhood, wrath, peace, the elements, and so much more. She is the symbol of every woman who has ever been or will ever come to be. She comes from a myriad of places and beliefs, her image always changing, but her presence always there. In this collection of fourteen beautifully written stories and three lovely original artworks, the Goddess rises in many unique forms to remind the world of the strength and beauty that is woman and the connection she has with all things.
****All proceeds from the Rise of the Goddess anthology will go to benefit the Elliott Public Library****
