Craving Red is a retell of Little Red Riding Hood, and I was excited to receive it from Rosalind. Rosalind normally weaves a tale that makes my heart beat faster and my toes curl.

This is the first time I’ve read one of Rosalind’s stories and didn’t quite like it. Now, don’t get me wrong. The style is still very much Rosalind, and it is captivating writing, but… Yes, there is a but. One I need to address.

First off… I’m a fairytale lover. I grew up in Denmark and Sweden, so that meant getting tales of the Norse Gods, the Brother Grimm’s and H.C Andersen in from childhood. I can get lost into the amazing worlds, doesn’t matter how many times I’ve read Little Red Riding Hood, The Ugly Duckling… I disappear.

But what happens AFTER the Happily Ever After? What if a spell from a Fairy Godmother went terrible wrong, and somehow the characters from old stories suddenly appears into OUR world? How will they react? Will they be able to adapt?
